Nayanthara Profile


Diana Mariam Kurien (born in 1984 in Kerala, India), popularly known by her stage name Nayanthara ),meaning "Eyes like Stars", is a south Indian actress and has acted in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies.Nayanthara was born on 8th November 1984 as an Orthodox Syrian Christian in Tiruvalla, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala. She did her schooling at various parts of India (Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Punjab and Karnataka) as her father was an Air Force Official. She joined Balikamadom High School, Thiruvalla for +2, then joined Marthoma college in Thiruvalla for her bachelors degree (English Literature). While at college, she was chosen by director Satyan Anthikkad and was cast opposite Jayaram in Mansinakkare. After that, she acted a sister character along side Mohanlal in Naatturajaavu and also played a ghost who falls in love with the hero Mohanlal in Fazil's Vismayathumbathu. She played heroine to Malayalam Megastar Mammootty in super hit movies Thaskaraveeran (Dubbed into Tamil as Yuvaraj) and Raapakal.She played opposite Sarath Kumar in Ayya. She acted with Rajnikanth in Chandramukhi. Her later films are Natturaajavu (Malayalam), Thaskaraveeran (Malayalam), Vallavan (Tamil), Gajini (Tamil), Yogi (Telugu) etc. She is now busy in the Tamil & Telugu film industry.Yaaradi Nee Mohini is a Tamil remake of the superhit Telugu film Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule. Dhanush replaced Venkatesh and Nayantara replaced Trisha, whilst Karthik Kumar was also in the cast. The music for the film was scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja and the film released on April 4, 2008.Vasu (Dhanush) is from a middle-class family. He makes several bids to obtain employment but all goes in vain due to his poor language skills and inadequate educational qualifications. All his friends settle in life but he continues to struggle to secure employment. Vasu has two good friends Cheenu (Karthik Kumar) and another friend Ganesh (Karunaas). His father (Raghuvaran) who was a teacher, always chided him for being an irresponsible person. This just added to his list of woes.At this juncture, Vasu catches a glimpse of Keerthi (Nayanthara) and its love at first sight for him. He learns that she works for a software solutions firm. Luckily for him, Vasu finally secures employment in the same firm. Keerthi is a short-tempered young woman. Once, Vasu accompanies her along with two other colleagues (Jeeva and Manobala) to Australia. Here he reveals his feelings of love to her. She refuses him saying that she came from an orthodox family and her marriage was also arranged with her uncle's son.A depressed Vasu returns to India thereafter. Unable to see his son in depression, his father meets Keerti. She abuses him for recommending his son's love and accidentally slaps both Vasu and his father. That night, Vasu's father dies of heart attack. In order to help change Vasu's mood, Cheenu takes him to his house. Coincidentally, Keerthi happens to be the financee of Cheenu and both of them are engaged to be married. However, their grandfather's (K. Viswanath) thoughts of getting them married earlier are put aside because Cheenu and Keerthi leave the house to have their own identity. This causes heartburn to their grandfather.After a couple of years, the parents of Keerthi and Cheenu decide to get them married to appease their grandfather. After several turn of events, Keerthi realizes that she was in love with Vasu as well. Vasu asks her to forget him because he believes that it would create problems in their happy family. But, Cheenu himself notices them converse and stops the marriage by lying that he is already married and was forced to marry now. When Vasu tells them the truth, he is driven out of the house only to be joined by the grandma of the house. Finally, everyone come to stay with Vasu for a few days except Cheenu's grandfather. He is still angry with Vasu and tells him that he will try to change himself somehow and will need some time.[2]
